NEXT STEP STAR, IDAHO INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Next Step Star, Idaho aims to develop capable and equipped ministers who will either plant roots to continue their ministry or get sent out!

Paul gave clear instruction to Timothy on how to do his ministry. In the same way, the pastors and leaders at Calvary Chapel Star work to maintain that same level of clarity and intentionality when it comes to raising up interns.

ABOUT

If God has put a desire on your heart to serve the body of Christ and grow in your gifts, ministry experience, and leadership skills, we would love to have you join us for our one-year Ministry Development Program.

Throughout the year, you will be given opportunities to serve in many different areas of ministry, providing you with a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to lead a church and minister to a congregation. You will participate in staff meetings, ministry planning and collaboration, and be discipled by our pastors and ministry leaders in areas such as event planning, team leadership, evangelism, prayer, Bible study, teaching, and preaching.

Our prayer is that by the end of the year, you will have experienced nearly every area of ministry within the local church while growing in your spiritual gifts, leadership abilities, and the unique calling God has placed on your life.

DETAILS

This one-year program includes intentional discipleship and a pathway to a diverse ministry experience. Our heart is also to send each intern on an international mission trip while they are with us. We usually send a team to the ends of the earth in the fall and again in the spring or summer.

HOUSING AND SALARY

Interns receive housing with a family in the church and the tools needed for their ministry, such as books, a laptop, and a desk. Interns are also given a salary to help cover food and other needs.

TERM LENGTH

One year, with an evaluation after the first semester.
HOUSING & SUPPORT

Church-family housing, ministry tools, and a salary for food and personal needs.

• Bible school is preferred, but not required.
• High school diploma.
• Commit to the internship schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and all day Sunday beginning at 6:00 AM.
• Serve in one midweek service and at various church events.
• Attend one season of Equip evangelism classes.
• Participate in one mission trip during the one-year program.
• Own transportation is strongly recommended.
• A consistent personal devotional life is required.
• 6:00 AM Sunday morning set-up.
• 7:00 AM prayer.
• 7:15 AM report to your area of service.
• Sit in one service.
• Participate in a Sunday morning rotation, to be determined.
• Plan one youth event before the internship is complete (one-year interns).
• Sunday service previews.
• Care ministry visits.
• How to Study class, when available.
• Kids Ministry events.
• Prep and Pray.
• Print and prepare materials for church events.
The heart of the program is intentional discipleship with Calvary Chapel Star’s pastors and leaders.
• Ministry style and pastoral presence: serving senior saints, standing on Sundays, and learning public, private, and congregational prayer.
• “Sure and Steady” time with the senior pastor every other week.
• Semester one reading with a pastor: Spiritual Leadership by J. Oswald Sanders, Power Through Prayer by E. M. Bounds, and On Being a Servant of God by Warren Wiersbe.
• Continued leadership reading: The Knowledge of the Holy by A. W. Tozer, Why Grace Changes Everything by Pastor Chuck Smith, and On Being a Leader for God by Warren Wiersbe.
• Learn how to pray through, plan, and prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly calendars.
• Learn practical budgeting and faithful stewardship.
